About Us

The USTA Mid-Atlantic Section, one of 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that serves around 32,000 members in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and eastern and southern West Virginia. USTA Mid-Atlantic Section is committed to offering quality recreational and competitive programs for people of all ages and abilities. We aim to grow tennis in the Mid-Atlantic by creating accessible and inclusive opportunities that enrich ALL lives –physically, emotionally, and socially – by connecting all generations with the lifetime sport of tennis.  Our vision is tennis for EVERY community. 

Mission

USTA/Mid-Atlantic Section is seeking a Seasonal Part-time Adult Social Host to coordinate and host adult social programing within the Mid-Atlantic Section. The Adult Social Host will report to the Director, Adult Programs & Services and will work closely with Adult Programs team to help grow the game of tennis and support the organization’s philanthropic mission.

Locations where Adult Social Hosts are needed:

  • Washington DC 
  • Arlington VA

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and host adult social programming to include:
  • Create a fun and energetic experience for participants.
  • Promote social, flexible league play opportunities through local marketing, meetup groups, social media platforms, flyers as approved by supervisor & Marketing and generally aid in player recruitment.
  • Manage player registrations, assist with new player sign-ups, and ensure completed registration payment.
  • Create schedules and assist players with re-schedules as needed.
  • Represent USTA Mid-Atlantic at tennis facilities and other establishments in an upbeat, positive professional manner.
  • Display excellent communication with players throughout the duration of the event/season, including keeping them up to date on any relevant information and answering any customer service questions.
  • Provide expense and revenue data as requested for events/leagues.
  • Identify and resolve event or social league issues while keeping the Supervisor informed of decisions.
  • Provide on-court drills and/or match play, dependent on Adult Social Program.

 

Requirements - What are we looking for?

    Great organizational skills and follow-up: Someone who has a good foundation of methodical, personal organization that gives them the confidence to reach deadlines and achieve outcomes even when there are numerous other “priorities”.

   Excellent communicator: Someone who is skilled at and loves keeping everyone informed about what is going on and can do so succinctly, clearly, and compellingly. This includes written and verbal communication.

  Minimum qualifications: On court tennis experience required. Must live in the Mid-Atlantic Section of Maryland, DC, Virginia, WV. Full vaccination against COVID-19 required as condition of employment. Reasonable accommodations will be considered based on qualifying exemptions.

Seasonal Tennis Adult Social Host Position FAQs

   How many hours does this position work? The schedule for this position varies based on the programming, which could include nights and weekends. This position is seasonal and part-time which is 20 hours or less per week.

  How much does this position pay? Position is non-exempt and paid between $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
