The USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation, one of 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that serves around 32,000 members in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and eastern and southern West Virginia. Mission

USTA/Mid-Atlantic Foundation is seeking a Seasonal Part-time Tennis Adult Social Host to coordinate and assist with tennis league facilitation for DC Fray. The Tennis Adult Social Host will report to the Social Play Manager and will work closely with the Adult Programs team to help grow the game of tennis and support the organization’s philanthropic mission.

Locations where Tennis Adult Social Hosts are needed:

  • Turkey Thicket Recreation Center: 1100 Michigan Ave NE, Washington, DC 20017 

Sessions Dates & Times:

  • Late Summer: August 7th - September 4th, 2023 (Sundays & Thursdays from 6:45pm - 9:15pm) 
  • Fall: September 18th - October 16th, 2023 ( Sundays & Thursdays From 6:45pm - 9:15pm)
  • Late Fall: October 23rd - November 20th, 2023 (Sundays & Thursdays from 6:45pm - 9:15pm)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and host tennis adult social programming to include:
  • Create a fun and energetic experience for participants.
  • Promote tennis league and tournament play opportunities through local marketing, meetup groups, social media platforms, flyers as approved by supervisor & marketing and generally aid in player recruitment.
  • Manage player registrations, assist with new player sign-ups, and ensure completed registration payment.
  • Represent USTA Mid-Atlantic at facilities with tennis league matches or tournaments and other establishments in an upbeat, positive professional manner.
  • Display excellent communication with players throughout the duration of the event/season, including keeping them up to date on any relevant information and answering any customer service questions.
  • Identify and resolve event or tennis league issues while keeping the Supervisor informed of decisions.
  • Greet players, provide balls, and score sheets for league play, and ensure match scores are collected by the captains at each site for entry.
  • Ensure waiver completion for all players in the league.
  • Ensure equipment allocated for the league is managed throughout the season and returned upon completion.
  • Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Complete required SafeSport Training and ensure it is updated yearly.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  Excellent communicator: Someone who is skilled at and loves keeping everyone informed about what is going on and can do so succinctly, clearly, and compellingly. This includes written and verbal communication.

  Minimum qualifications:

  • On court tennis experience required. Must live in the Mid-Atlantic Foundation of Maryland, DC, Virginia, WV.
  • Experience with Google Suite, to include G-Mail, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drive preferred. 
  • Must be able to professionally handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Physical Requirements of the Job: Spend frequent time making repetitive motions; spend frequent time sitting, standing, and walking; spend frequent time using your hands to handle, reach, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Lifting up to 25lbs with or without assistance.

  How many hours does this position work? The schedule for this position varies based on the programming, which could include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is seasonal and part-time which is 20 hours or less per week.

  How much does this position pay? Position is non-exempt and paid between $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
